Welcome to Year 2
Teacher: Mrs Trent
Teaching Assistant: Mrs McCabe
We have been busy learning in Year 2 and Mrs Trent is very pleased with how well everyone has settled in.
On Remembrance Day we learnt about why this day is important. We wrote some facts about it and made paper poppies. At 11 O'clock we joined the rest of the school in the hall to observe a 2 minute silence.
We have been learning about the artist Kandinsky and during Art week we produced lots of work based on his painting 'Squares with Concentric Circles'.
In RE we have been learning about some of the Sacraments. We learnt that these are Jesus' way of welcoming us into his family.
In Mathematics we have been using the Singapore Bar to help us understand addition and subtraction.
We are lucky to have an outside area to play in and extend our role-play skills!
We had fun being taught archery skills!
We learned about instruction writing. We followed some simple instructions to make a Venetian Carnival Mask then wrote some clearer instructions for other people to follow.
We have been writing and performing poetry. We wrote bonfire and firework poems thinking carefully about our choices of verbs and adjectives. We then performed them to the rest of the class.
We have been learning to sew using simple stitches. We made our initials using a simple running stitch.
