Home Learning

Homework is distributed on a Friday and is due the following Wednesday. There will be weekly Spellings, Reading and Times Tables to practise, but English and Maths worksheets will be handed out on alternate weeks.  Please support your child with this and feel free to note any comments regarding any difficulties with the Homework on the worksheets.  It is also useful to practise reading and writing numbers 0-100 in numerals and words, in addition to learning x10, x5 and x2 tables,

Spellings are given out and tested on Monday.  New spelling lists can be found in the Spelling List books. Children will also be given a sheet to practise the spellings daily. Your child’s score each week will be noted in the blue books and any incorrect spellings will be highlighted so children can practise these.

Reading – two books are given out to each child. They do not have to read them both on the same night, but we encourage you to read daily for about 5-10 minutes and talk about the books. You might also like to read other books or magazines from home. Whatever you read, please note the book, page numbers and a comment in the Reading Diaries to help us monitor progression.  Also encourage your child to more independent now and put any finished books and their diaries on Mrs Gill's table so she knows to change them!

If you have any concerns or issues you wish to discuss, please feel free to speak to me after school, or make an appointment through the school office, or leave a note in your child's School Bag.  We wish you a happy journey through Year 2!
